Back in 1857 when John Brandon arrived in Tampa (then known as Fort Brooke) he purchased 40-acres of land and began to raise his family. A few years later, a depot and general store were added as others began to settle into the area. Soon agriculture and farming began to increase the job opportunities in the area. Orange packing and poultry farming soon began attracting evening more people to the area and Brandon Florida slowly began becoming a target satellite community within Tampa Bay. Today, Brandon is widely recognized for its natural beauty, alluring residential and shopping hot spots and strong public educational institutions. There are a wide variety of residential homes in a multitude of varying neighborhoods to choose from. Brandon has everything from small efficient condominiums to sprawling estates located along the famed Alafia river, and almost everything in-between.
